Ekaeri started with khadi as our first step towards a softer form of rebellion against the way we consume and make clothes today.
We are aware that fashion is built around overconsumption. As consumers, we are part of it too. But what concerns us is how much of what we wear is made from synthetic, plastic-based materials, the pollution they create, and the amount of time these materials sit against our skin.
We believe we deserve better materials.
At the same time, some of the finest weaving traditions in India, perfected over generations, are slowly disappearing. These crafts use local knowledge, natural fibres and processes that have existed long before fast fashion. We want to make sure they continue to have a place in our everyday lives.
Our journey starts with handwoven khadi from Melkote, Karnataka and our association with Janapada Collective, supporting our fabric sourcing. We want to build a transparent process from the beginning- fair payments, no exploitation and a clear understanding of where our garments come from.
We believe in moving towards zero waste and more sustainable ways of living, while being honest about the fact that there is no perfect solution.
And as a designer, I also want to bring back something I feel we are losing.

Ekaeri is our attempt to bring together better materials, Indian crafts, responsible making and the joy of getting dressed.
